Rule 1 — The Lineage Champion
The defending Super Bowl Champion begins the season as the Lineage Champion.
The regular season does not change the crown.

The Championship Bloodline of the NFL. The Lineage Championship follows the defending Super Bowl Champion through the NFL Playoffs.
“You can defeat the champion without earning the throne.”
To become the Lineage Champion, a team must:
1. Defeat the reigning Lineage Champion.
2. Carry the lineage to the Conference Championship Game.
Only then has it earned the right to wear the crown.
The defending Super Bowl Champion begins the season as the Lineage Champion.
The regular season does not change the crown.
If a team eliminates the Lineage Champion in the playoffs, it does not immediately become the new Lineage Champion.
It becomes the 🟨 Lineage Carrier.
The Lineage Carrier must advance to the Conference Championship Game. Once the carrier reaches the Conference Championship:
✅ The lineage survives. 👑 The carrier officially becomes the new Lineage Champion.
If the Lineage Carrier is eliminated before reaching the Conference Championship Game, the lineage is broken.
The eventual Super Bowl Champion establishes a new lineage.
If the reigning Lineage Champion fails to qualify for the NFL Playoffs:
💥 The lineage immediately ends. The championship bloodline is broken. There is no Lineage Champion for that postseason. The Super Bowl Champion establishes a new lineage.
Whenever a lineage is broken, the Super Bowl Champion begins a new lineage.
Examples: Packers Lineage · Steelers Lineage · Cowboys Lineage · Patriots Lineage · Chiefs Lineage. The same franchise may establish multiple lineages throughout NFL history.
A lineage is named after the franchise that establishes it. The Lineage Champion may change many times, but the lineage name remains the same until it is broken.

The Ravens allow 165 points during the regular season and just 188 total points in 20 games. In S³'s opinion, the 2000 Ravens produced the greatest defensive season in NFL history.
With the Ravens closing one chapter of NFL history, a new dynasty was about to emerge. A sixth-round draft pick named Tom Brady and defensive mastermind Bill Belichick would redefine greatness and begin one of the most dominant eras in professional sports.
2001–02 through 2025–26
The NFL entered the new millennium without knowing that its next great dynasty was already being assembled in New England.
The Ravens had just completed a championship season behind one of the greatest defenses football had ever seen. The Rams' Greatest Show on Turf remained an offensive powerhouse. Peyton Manning was becoming a superstar. The Steelers were building another contender.
And sitting behind Drew Bledsoe in New England was the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft.
His name was Tom Brady.
What followed wasn't simply a Patriots dynasty. Over the next quarter-century, the Lineage Warz crown would travel through some of the greatest teams, quarterbacks and playoff battles in NFL history.

And others never even returned to the playoffs, destroying the lineage completely.
That's what separates Lineage Warz from a list of Super Bowl champions.
Winning the championship gives you the crown.
Keeping the lineage alive is another war entirely.
