Now that Jaron "Boots" Ennis holds the WBA and WBO titles, the division has become much easier to map out.

The most logical next opponent is Josh Kelly. A fight with Kelly would put another world title on the line and move Boots one step closer to undisputed. More importantly, it continues building momentum toward the biggest fight in the division.

If Vergil Ortiz Jr. doesn't fight Josh Kelly first, Kelly is the natural next opponent for Boots. If Ortiz beats Kelly before that happens, then the focus shifts to Boots vs. Vergil in a massive showdown.

At that point, the winner would face Sebastian Fundora, or whoever is holding the remaining world title, for the undisputed championship.

S³ Likely Path

  1. Josh Kelly (if available)
  2. Vergil Ortiz Jr.
  3. Sebastian Fundora (or whoever holds the final belt)

This path allows the division to build naturally, creates multiple marquee events instead of rushing straight to undisputed, and gives the eventual undisputed championship fight even greater significance.
