Zuffa Cruiserweight Title Involves Legal & Promotion Disputes Between Jai Opetaia & Zuffa
In cruiserweights, Jai Opetaia is experiencing an increasing amount of disputes involving both legal and promotional issues.
Opetaia defeated Brandon Glanton to become the new cruiserweight champion for Zuffa Boxing, but the fight didn't meet the requirements for International Boxing Federation (IBF) sanctioning.
Therefore, because the fight was not sanctioned by the IBF, questions were raised regarding Opetaia's official cruiserweight ranking in the context of the traditional championship model.
Additionally, this dispute represents the growing tensions among the sanctioning bodies that have been in place for years and the new promotion companies entering into the world of boxing.
Despite the many controversies associated with this event, Opetaia remains the #1 ranked cruiserweight fighter due to his dominant win over Glanton.
Rumors of a Mayweather-Pacquiao Rematch
A long-standing rumor in the boxing world is beginning to gain traction in regards to a possible rematch between two of the greatest boxers of all time.
It appears that according to sources, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will return to the ring to fight each other again in September of 2026, at the new Sphere arena in Las Vegas.
The possible return of these nearly 50-year-old boxing legends to the ring has generated a lot of differing opinions from both fans and fighters.
Fury stated that he doesn't believe that the motivation behind the fight is a desire to compete against each other but rather it will be for the sake of spectacle.
